Amazon.com Product Description When you're hiking in the backcountry, a fishing rod can be a real space-taker. This doesn't mean you don't want to be prepared, however, when stumbling across a fish-filled stream. Enter this mini fishing rod pen, a pen-sized pole that can catch fish as large as 4 pounds.
The fishing rod pen measures a mere 8 inches long. | The fishing rod pen may look like a toy, but it's a real rod, with a stainless-steel reel that offers a forward and reverse ratchet stop, a drag control, and a casting brake. To use, simply open the pen rod by taking off the cap, insert the reel between the two grooves on the pen, and twist the screw down to tighten the reel on the rod. The fishing rod pen's most striking feature, however, is its small size. It measures only 8 inches long when closed and extends to 37 inches when open. As a result, you can fit the pen in your jacket pocket, an accessory pocket, and pretty much anywhere else. It's the perfect gadget for all your spur-of-the-moment fishing needs. The fishing rod pen--which offers a capacity of 120 yards on a 5-pound line and a 5:1 gear ratio--also includes hooks.

For my son August 16, 2008 J. Martin (Fuquay Varina, NC USA) 13 out of 17 found this review helpful
I purchased this pole for my son and he really likes it. Make sure that you are catching small fish so the pole won't break. [...]

this fishing pole is really neat.the reel is really well made and the the eye's on the pole are nylon coated.the only complaint i have is how the reel attach's to the pole.if they would have put as much thought into it as they did the reel and pole it would be fantastic, but as it is i have to tighten it up constantly.this is the only place that the material they used could have been better, other than that it is a superb product and really catch's fish.
Horrible June 23, 2009 careandfrankie 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I can't believe I even bought this thing. It is small but the reel isn't- so it serves no purpose having the pole small- my son is going to lose the reel. It is flimsy and cheap.

Cool idea. I got one shipped straight from from China. It doesn't cast only works like a winch. you can reel it and unreel it but not cast due to the fact that it is "fixed" to the gears and not free spinning. Would make a great novelty gift since it does look like a big pen. But, IMO, not worth $5
Waste of Money and Time March 19, 2010 James (Austin, TX) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This rod is worthless junk. A stick and string will get you better results without one tenth of the aggravation. A complete waste of money, unless you need to give a novelty gift to someone you really don't like.
